CHILDREN OF KAMPONG PHLUK

Stipple engraving by James Denison-Pender on two sheets
of optical crystal, each engraved on both sides, mounted
on a wood and perspex stand

Height 25cm, width 13cm.

Kampong Phluk is a 'floating' fishing village on the Tonle
Sap River, which flows between the Tonle Sap Lake and
the Mekong River at Phnom Penh in Cambodia. Most of
the inhabitants are Vietnamese, who came to Cambodia
when Vietnam intervened in the fight against the Khmer
Rouge. The river is remarkable because it flows in
different directions at different times of the year.
